Sleepless in Seattle … -Tacoma International Airport

05.19.26

That’s right. Your favorite amateur blog kid is headed back to the East Coast to watch an amazing future adult graduate from high school.

IM NOT CRYING – YOU’RE CRYING!

Anyway, I’m currently coming at you from from the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, N concourse, downing tater tots and a delicious lemony draft at nearly 9pm. It’s delicious. I’m tired.

This is the same spot I ate at last summer when I headed to the PNW for an interview at my current place of employ. I didn’t get the job last summer (bummer). But everything happens for a reason I suppose, and it only took an extra six (or nine?) months to get me back and that time I sealed the deal.

This is my third cross country flight in less than a year, plus one cross country drive. I’m getting way too comfortable changing time zones if you ask me.

The flight between southern Oregon and Seattle is a fairly quick one, but the views are still pretty spectacular. Especially with the Cascades out my little airplane window. Crater Lake and Crescent Lake were both pretty incredible. So was Mt. McLoughlin and Mt. Hood. (Not to brag, but I get to look at Mt. McLoughlin every day)

And Mt. Rainier … **chef’s kiss y’all**

There’s just something about a mountain that’s so big it’s chilling above the clouds.

The way we flew into Seattle I wasn’t able to get a decent shot of the skyline, but I still snagged a couple shots of … whatever this part of town is.

Idk. I thought it was pretty.

Anyway.

In true rando small world fashion I’m not finding myself sitting on the floor next to someone who is GASP also a librarian and GASP into Comic-Cons and GASP has heard of Dragon Con and GASP is wearing gray pants and a black t-shirt.

We’ve been chatting for twenty minutes and all I did was say “sorry, I’m gonna crowd your space for a minute” before dropping my bag next to her and plopping down on the floor.

It’s now 10 o’clock and my flight is slightly delayed. I have a freshly downloaded audiobook (thanks, Libby) queued up — Heavenly Tyrant by Xiran Jay Zhao. So hopefully it’s a peaceful ride and I’ll maybe get some sleep?

Eastbound and (eventually) down,

Ames
